About Spirulina Powder Organic
Spirulina is one of the oldest life forms on Earth. In fact, this blue-green microalgae is partly responsible for producing the oxygen in the planet’s atmosphere that billions of years ago allowed the planet’s originating life forms to develop. Spirulina is the world’s first superfood, and one of the most nutrient-rich foods on Earth. Spirulina, that grows in freshwater environments like lakes, rivers and pods, is probably the best documented example of microalgae as a food, being used by ancient cultures such as the Aztecs in Mexico and the Kanembu tribes in Lake Chad, Africa
Spirulina has between 65-71% protein (more than beef, chicken, and soybeans), 9 essential and 10 non-essential amino acids, as well as high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), beta-carotene, linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, vitamin B12, iron, calcium (300% more than whole milk), phosphorus, nucleic acids RNA & DNA, chlorophyll, and phycocyanin, a pigment-protein complex that is found only in blue-green algae.
Its advantage for food security is that it needs less land and water than livestock to produce protein and energy.
Storage and shelf life
Store spirulina powder in the refrigerator. Spirulina doesn’t have any oils that could potentially go rancid over time, but the amount of oxygen-sensitive nutrients will diminish the longer it sits after opening. Consume it within a few months of opening.
Spirulina powder, when properly stored in refrigerator, can last for up to 6 months.

You can stir a small spoonful (recommend 1 – 3 grams) of spirulina powder into a glass of water or juice and drink it straight, or you can add some to a smoothie. Be warned: Just a small amount of deeply-pigmented spirulina will change the color of your drink into a deep blue-green, almost black. If you go the smoothie route, balance out the overall flavor by combining the spirulina powder with sweet fruits like bananas, pineapple, and mango. If you prefer juice, try stirring it into a naturally sweet orange or pineapple juice.
