About Maitake Mushroom Powder Organic

The maitake (Grifola frondosa) is a mushroom that grows at the base of trees, especially oaks, and has a white to brownish-grey colour. The mushroom is native to China, Europe and North America. The name maitake comes from the Japanese words mai (dance) and take (mushroom), which therefore means the dancing mushroom.

Maitake mushrooms have a wild, feathery look and a smoky and woody flavor that cooks adore. Maitake mushrooms are available fresh or dried in gourmet markets, Asian markets or upscale supermarkets. They can be simply stir-fried or sauteed and then pureed into a soup.

Maitake is a mushroom that traditionally has been used in Japan and China as part of the diet and to treat diabetes and hypertension. Like other medicinal mushrooms, it contains a complex sugar called beta-glucan. In laboratory and human studies, maitake extract was able to stimulate various cells and factors in the immune system. Studies in animals show that it slows the growth of certain tumors and lowers blood sugar levels.

How to use

Supplemental Powder: Maitake mushroom powder is a fantastic addition to a variety of teas, smoothies, or culinary creations. It’s recommended to use 3-7 grams of Maitake into whatever food is applicable for daily use. Maitake’s effects are cumulative. You probably won’t notice anything after using it just once or sporadically. It can take a few weeks to 2 months to notice an effect.

Coffee: Mushroom-infused coffee has recently grown in popularity. Simply mix the one part mushroom powder with three parts of coffee grounds. Brew with your normal method.

Capsules: Mushroom powder can also be put into capsules and taken as part of a daily vitamin intake. Follow the same dosage for supplemental powder.

Unlike other medicinal mushrooms, maitake doesn’t seem to have anti-inflammatory effects, thus those with autoimmune diseases and women who are pregnant should not take it. Take with vitamin C, research has shown vitamin C increases the absorption of polysaccharides in the body. Add an orange, some camu camu or a multivitamin to your maitake routine!
