About Maca Powder Organic
This superfood has been grown and used in South America for centuries and is slowly gaining popularity all over. Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a finicky root, similar to a turnip or radish mainly growing in the Andes of central Peru, in harsh conditions and at very high altitudes — above 13,000 feet (4,000 meters). There are four varieties of maca root cultivated identified by their colors – cream-yellow, half purple, purple, and black. We sell the cream-yellow variety due to its availability and enhanced sweetness. This maca root has an earthy, nutty, butterscotch-like taste.
Our Organic Raw Peruvian Maca Root powder is a nutritional powerhouse with between 10-15%, protein, 16 minerals, 7 vitamins and 19 amino acids in composition with a rich assortment of plant tannins, saponins and alkaloids, isothiocynates and glucosinates. As an adaptogen, maca powder can help the body cope with various stresses and can help with weight loss, hormone imbalances, and sleep problems.
Maca can also be used to boost energy, mood, and even memory. Add maca powder to snacks or hot drinks for an energy boost which can gently make you feel more awake and focused, without any jitters or crash. It could even help with energy and stamina – useful as part of your pre-workout snack if your training session requires endurance.
Storage and shelf life
Store your maca powder on the counter at room temperature. We recommend a glass, air-tight container to store up to one-year. The shelf life can be extended beyond two years if you store it in the freezer.
