Jasmine rice also named fragrant rice, gets its name, not from its fragrance but its colour resembling the jasmine flower. Our organic white jasmine rice has a sweet and nutty flavour and a distinctive aroma of buttered popcorn and fragrant flowers. It pairs beautifully with the spices used in many Asian and Middle Eastern dishes.

About Jasmine White Rice Organic

White jasmine rice has a sweet, delicate aroma and flavor; and a slightly sticky, yet separating and fluffy texture. Our organic white jasmine rice has no added preservatives and is non-GMO. Quick and easy to prepare, jasmine rice is most often associated with Asian cooking but adds wonderful flavor and aroma to any number of sweet or savory dishes.

Storage and shelf life

Store organic white jasmine rice in a dry and sealable food storage container – we recommend glass. Keep the container in a cool, dry, and dark area out of the sun and heat. Keep the container away from liquids that may leak into it.

Organic white jasmine rice, when properly stored, has a shelf life for up to 2 years.

The product is available for delivery and pick up from our store in de Pijp.

The product is delivered in recycled paper bags.

How to use

Jasmine Rice is wonderful served with Asian inspired soups, curries and stir-fries. Once cooled it is ideal for salads.

To cook delicious, fluffy Jasmine Rice either steam, boil or use the reduction method.

To preserve the unique aroma of Jasmine it is best not to salt cooking water. You better season it after cooking.

Rinse rice, then add to boiling water (1:2) and simmer for about 12-15 minutes, or until tender. Remove from heat, drain, then leave covered for a further 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. For reduction, fill cold water about 1.5 cm above rice and simmer, covered, until water has evaporated, about 18 minutes. Let stand for further 5 minutes, fluff and serve.

Jasmine rice is grown primarily in Thailand (Thai hom mali or Thai fragrant rice), Cambodia (phka rumduol or Cambodian jasmine rice), Laos, and southern Vietnam.
