About Chamomile Flowers Organic

Chamomile blossoms, the ginseng of Europe, belong to the daisy family and humans have been using it since ancient times. It is very fragrant, giving off a gentle floral, almost apple like aroma that is very relaxing. For this reason, and due to its many health benefits, chamomile is popular in herbal teas and aromatherapy.

Chamomile blossoms are used medicinally against sore stomach, irritable bowel syndrome, and as a gentle sleep aid. This is one of the most often quoted herbs for their health benefits and traditional remedy powers. It has been recorded in the traditional medicine recipes of Rome, Egypt and Greece.

Chamomile is effective in a myriad of health conditions because it is a rich rsource of flavonoids (quercimertrinand rutin), volatile oils (bisabolol, farnesene, and chamazulene), salicylate derivates, cyanogenic glycosides couarins, plant acids and fatty acids. It boasts of vulnerary, stomachic, splenic, sedative, nervine, hepatic, febrifuge, emmenagogue, diuretic, digestive, diaphoretic, depurative, cicatrisant, cholagoue, carminative, anti-viral, antispasmodic, anti-rheumatic, anti-depressant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

Store chamomile in a cool, dry, airtight container, away from the sunlight and heat.

Chamomile flowers, when properly stored, can last for up to 2 years.

No known allergens. It can cause a reaction to people being allergic to ragweed.

How to use

Use between 2 tablespoons of dried flowers for each cup of water. The recommended water temperature is 93C, so once your boiling water is ready let it cool down a bit and then steep the herb for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on your taste. The more potent the tea, the more likely it is to offer health benefits.

Besides that, though, we obtain certificates of chemical analysis to ensure the quality of the tea and always try each batch for freshness and taste as soon as they arrive to our store to ensure that meets our standards.

Our herbal tea grows under the Greek sun in an ideal climate for its development, that is not available in the Netherlands.
Our impact
The product arrives by land in large metal tins, that are upcycled either by us ( i.e. herb, flower pots) or by our partners. We order our product in large quantities to optimize shipping impact and offer it in bulk so you can buy as much or as little as you need eliminating waste and unnecessary packaging.

Producer's impact

Our producers are all small batch herb growers/ collectors in the region of Heraklion in Crete. They have been taking care of the land and the trees for generations and have a love and passion for herbs. They use organic farming techniques, which are much more sustainable than conventional.
